Burger #13 – Pulled Pork Burger (The Factory)

I decided to take a little vacation back home to Prince Edward Island, and I couldn’t pass up the chance to try out a burger at one of the local restaurants. I went to The Factory, located in Charlottetown at 189 Kent Street. The menu for this place is packed full of many delicious meaty options that are sure to satisfy any type of meat-lover. For this burger, I went with the Pulled Pork Burger.

Stats

From the menu: “Hickory smoked pulled pork and a juicy 6 oz. patty with onion rings, cheddar cheese, mushrooms and onions”

Appearance (7/10)

Now this is a healthy portion of food! As soon as the plate was set in front of me, I knew that I was not leaving with an empty stomach. The fries were piled high and the burger was very daunting in size. All of the toppings looked extremely delicious and I was really excited to see a few good sized onion rings. I was also really pleased to see the pretzel bun, as I’m discovering more and more that it is a great contribution to any type of burger. After planning out how I was going to tackle this massive feat, I started in on the burger.

Taste (7.5/10)

After taking a few bites, I realized that this burger had a few delicious surprises. The first was the hickory smoked pulled pork. It was so tender and juicy, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I was also really pleased with the mushrooms on this burger. They added a great contrast to the meaty components of the burger, and they really were a nice touch. My favorite part of the burger, however, was the onion rings. I don’t know who first came up with the idea to put them on a burger, but they definitely deserve a high five. The pretzel bun was super tasty, and this type of bun has easily become my favorite style. This burger does get fairly messy, mostly due to the large quantity of toppings, and I’m a little ashamed to say that I did have to eat the last few bites with a fork and knife.

Restaurant Atmosphere & Service (6/10)

Having only been to The Factory at night time for drinks and music, I was really curious about the service during the day. We sat out on the patio, which was right in the sun so that was nice. There is also plenty of indoor seating, and they also have a big section of windows that they open up so it doesn’t get too warm inside. Our waitress was friendly, and although she didn’t know the answers to some of the questions we asked (maybe she was new?), she always made sure we had everything we needed.

Cost vs. What You Get (7/10)

The cost of the burger is $13.99, and given the size and quality of it, I had no problem paying that price. They didn’t skimp on the toppings or the fries, and it was nice to see that they were a place that wanted their customers to leave with an extremely full stomach.

Overall (6.875/10)

I was really pleased with both the quality and quantity that The Factory provided when it came to their food. They have a pretty extensive menu that is filled with many meaty, and non-meaty, options which all sound mouth-wateringly delicious. Definitely give this place a shot if you are looking for somewhere to cure your hunger.
