Burger #18 – Bacon Cheese Burger (Salty’s)

With the end of the summer season just around the corner, the next stop on my burger adventure took me to one of the many restaurants located on the Halifax Waterfront. Salty’s, located at 1877 Upper Water Street, features a menu that is mostly comprised of different seafood options. However, they still have some choices for those looking for something from the land. I went with their Bacon Cheese Burger.

Burger #17 – The Frog Burger (The Fickle Frog)

After a bit of a break from the burger life (sometimes work gets in the way), I figured it was time to get back to it. For this burger, I went to a favourite place of mine, The Fickle Frog. Located at 5675 Spring Garden Road, The Fickle Frog is a great place to grab a beer and a meal without having to go deep into downtown Halifax. With a wide range of food on their menu, there is sure to be something to satisfy even the most pickiest of eaters. For this burger, I went with The Frog Burger.

Burger #15 – Fiery Smokehouse Cheddar Burger (Freeman’s)

Feeling the burger hunger once again, I decided that it was time for burger #15. The hunger hit as I was walking on Quinpool, so I decided to head into Freeman’s to try one of their burgers. Located at 6092 Quinpool Road, Freeman’s has become a pretty popular spot for both beer-drinkers and late night eaters. I had eaten here many times before, and also had food delivered for numerous late night meals (they deliver until 5 AM!). For this burger, I went with the Fiery Smokehouse Cheddar Burger.

Burger #11 – Thai Peanut Burger (The Foggy Goggle)

For the first time since starting my journey through burgers, I decided it was time to return to a place that I had been before and try one of their other burgers, for #11. I went back to The Foggy Goggle, located at 1667 Argyle Street, mostly because I had such a great experience the first time, and their kitchen is open late, which was perfect for this late-night meal. For this visit, I went with their Thai Peanut Burger.

Stats

From the menu: “Our Big Arse Patty with peanut sauce, caramelized onions, bacon, mustard, mayo, and shredded carrots.”

Since it had been way too long since my last burger, I decided it was time to go and get burger #9. For this one, I headed over to Relish Gourmet Burgers, which is located at 6024 Quinpool Road, to try one of their many delicious-sounding creations. Many people had told me that I needed to try this spot, so I figured it was time. For this visit, I went with their burger titled Big Texas.

Burger #8 – Sirloin Burger (The Five Fishermen)

For burger #8, I decided to change it up a little bit and do some finer dining. I went to The Five Fishermen, located at 1740 Argyle Street, not knowing quite what to expect. The only thing I really knew about this place was that it could be kind of pricey, but I decided to give it a go anyways. They only have one burger on their menu, and it is titled the Sirloin Burger.

Stats

From the menu: “House made 8oz grill burger, maple chipotle BBQ sauce, provolone cheese, smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato and red onion crisps served with hand-cut fries.”

For the celebration, I went to The Foggy Goggle, which is located at 1667 Argyle Street. This was my first time at this place, but I had high hopes as Argyle Street tends to be full of creative and delicious meals. For this burger, I went with the Goggle Burger.

Burger #3 – Beef, Pork & Bacon Burger (Rockbottom)

Moving on to the next stop on my burger quest, I headed to Rockbottom for #3. Situated at 5686 Spring Garden Road (underneath Your Father’s Moustache) is this intimate brew pub. The cozy and warm atmosphere is perfect for either date night or meeting up with some friends to try out the craft beer, which is brewed right on site. Having a few different choices for burgers, I eventually decided on the Beef, Pork & Bacon Burger.

Burger #2 – Belfast Cheeseburger (The Old Triangle)

For Burger #2, I made my way to The Old Triangle. Found in downtown Halifax at 5136 Prince Street, The Old Triangle is a great place for either a cold beer or a tasty meal (or in my case, both). A large dining area and two separate bars allows for a large group of people to be accommodated at the same time. Living up to the ‘Irish Alehouse’ style, this place features a charming interior as well as some sort of live music each night. For this meal, I chose the only beef burger that they have on their menu, which is titled the Belfast Cheeseburger.

Stats

From the menu: “Hand made 6oz burger, char grilled with bacon, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, mustard and pickles, and your choice of cheese”

Burger #1 – Hen Den’ Burger (Darrell’s Restaurant)

For the premiere burger, I headed over to Darrell’s Restaurant. Located at 5576 Fenwick Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Darrell’s is a pretty popular spot for both students and families. The restaurant proudly displays on its walls the many ‘Best of Food’ plaques, which are awarded to the best of the best restaurants throughout Halifax, by The Coast. For burger #1, I chose the Hen Den’ Burger.

Stats

From the menu: “Our premium, 6oz Certified Angus Beef burger topped with a “Grade A” Annapolis Valley fried egg (seriously), genuine Canadian cheddar, real bacon, our own freshly made chipotle mayo + guacamole, lettuce (now you can tell your mom you had a vegetable), on a toasted, seeded Kaiser bun. You will fall in love!”
