Moving on to the next stop on my burger quest, I headed to Rockbottom for #3. Situated at 5686 Spring Garden Road (underneath Your Father’s Moustache) is this intimate brew pub. The cozy and warm atmosphere is perfect for either date night or meeting up with some friends to try out the craft beer, which is brewed right on site. Having a few different choices for burgers, I eventually decided on the Beef, Pork & Bacon Burger.
Stats
From the menu: “6oz beef & pork patty. Topped with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion rings, roasted red pepper mayo, lettuce, tomato & pickle.”
Appearance (7/10)
As soon as the plate was placed in front of me, I noticed two things. First, the size of the enormous onion rings that were piled on top of this burger. Second, was the mouth-watering slice of thick cut bacon. Both of these things made me both nervous and excited. Nervous because the size of this burger was going to take some serious burger handling in order to even get a proper bite. Excited because this looked like one of the most delicious things I have ever had put in front of me.
Taste (8/10)
So after some maneuvering and trial and error, I was able to get my first bite of this massive burger. I was instantly in love. The beef and pork patty was so juicy and delicious, and paired with the crunchy onion rings and the thick piece of bacon, it made me want to continue eating, even as the feeling of being full was becoming an issue. As with any burger of this size, it gets messy so be prepared for that, but trust me when I say it’s worth it. On a side note, we also ordered the Potachos appetizer and they were amazing. Potato nachos. You know you want them.
Restaurant Atmosphere & Service (7/10)
As mentioned before, Rockbottom is perfect for either date night or meeting up with some friends for a drink. It has very intimate lighting and the layout and decor is very charming. It wasn’t too busy when we went (probably due to the weather outside), but they do take reservations, which I would recommend doing as it’s not that big of a place and I could see it getting pretty busy during peak times. Our waitress was very friendly and she made sure that we had everything we needed at all times, without being more annoying than helpful, which is a big plus.
Cost vs. What You Get (7/10)
This burger rings in at $14.25. That is slightly on the higher side for a burger, but it was so worth it. The size alone makes this price tag very reasonable. Add that with the pure deliciousness of this burger and the price doesn’t seem that bad after all. That being said, I wouldn’t make a habit of getting this burger on a regular basis as it would definitely hurt your wallet, and probably your heart.
Overall (7.25/10)
Go get this burger. I promise that you will not be disappointed (unless you are not a burger fan aka lame). I will warn you though that once you finish this burger you will need to have a serious lay down because it is definitely a big task trying to get this whole burger down. A big, juicy, delicious task.
