Burger squirrels, burger cars, and burger heat. These were all things that could be found throughout Halifax during this year’s Burger Week. With a whopping 79 restaurants participating this year, the choices were endless for those looking for a good burger, and the list of restaurants that really stepped up is a long one!
While this year I didn’t tackle every burger like last year (burgers can get pricey when you don’t have that Ambassador title), I still had a pretty successful Burger Week. I got to interview this year’s Burger Ambassadors, which you can read here, and numerous restaurants let me come in for a sneak peek of their burger before the week even began!
This year I got to preview 13 burgers, and through Burger Week I ate another 22, making for 35 whole burgers that I got to try out. I was really amazed with all the delicious burgers that I ate this year, and picking my top choices was not an easy task. However, I have finally come to a decision on which ones, just narrowly, beat out the rest this year, in my opinion.
Here are my Top 3 burgers, as well as some honourable mentions, from Halifax Burger Week 2016!
Burger Week is now only 5 days away, and I can almost taste all the delicious burgers (maybe because I actually have tasted some of them already). I know you are all eager to get out there and get eating, so I’m here with Part 2 of the Halifax Burger Week Preview Series (you can see Part 1 here) to get your mouths watering and your stomachs growling with some tasty burger details! In this part, I highlight three more burgers from Ardmore Tea Room, Primal Kitchen, and Fickle Frog!
Ardmore Tea Room
Burger: Doughnut Burger – Maple sausage patty, fried egg, American cheese, tomato, spicy mayo and doughnut bun

Since starting this blog, one thing I have learned is that burgers come in all different shapes and sizes. You can have ones that are plain and simple, or there can be ones that are extravagant, inventive, and (sometimes) over the top. There is also numerous possibilities when it comes to the meat you can use. While LoB initially started out mostly dealing with beef burgers, I’ve decided that it’s time to start expanding. This is where Fickle Frog comes in. Located at 5675 Spring Garden Road, this has been a place where I have enjoyed a few beef burgers (and maybe a few beer). I chose this place to be the first burger of the chicken variety for Life of Burgers, and it was titled the Mozza Chicken Burger.
From the menu: “A chicken breast topped with mozzarella cheese and aioli. Served with lettuce, tomato, sweet onions and baked until golden”
Halifax Burger Week is in full swing and it was time to venture out into the city for Day #3! Joining Team Life of Burgers this time was Olivia, Savannah, Jordan, Nadine, and Elaine.
Burger #17 – Peanut Butter Burger from Darrell’s
The Peanut Butter Burger from Darrell’s is a regular menu item and it is hugely popular within Halifax. I, however, have never been a huge fan of it. Not that there is necessarily anything wrong with it, I just don’t really enjoy the combination of peanut butter with their patty. I do, however, think that their patty is pretty good (I’ve had other burgers that use the same patty). With this burger, I also really enjoyed the bun, and it was able to hold up when faced with the peanut butter and burger juices that this burger provides. This burger seems to have a pretty big fan base, so if you think it is something you would like, you should definitely try it and form your own opinion.
Savannah: “I really liked the peanut butter as it wasn’t too sweet, and it worked well with the bacon”
