Halifax Burger Week 2019 Preview – Part 2

We are now three days out from Halifax Burger Week, and you can almost hear the stomachs growling in anticipation.

I’m assuming by now that you’ve put somewhat of a list together of burgers that you want to check off your Passport (because only a crazy person would go into a 140-burger Burger Week without some sort of game plan), but just in case you need some further inspiration, I’ve got you covered with the Preview Series once again!

For Part 2 of the series (you can take a look at Part 1 here) I have an early look at the burgers being slung by Durty Nelly’s, Harbour City, The Auction House, and Stubborn Goat, for Burger Week 2019!

(Also, if you haven’t checked out all of the #HFXBurgerWeek giveaways I’ve been doing over on Instagram (@lifeofburgers), be sure to go take a look and win yourself some Burger Week burgers!)

Halifax Burger Week 2018 Preview – Part 1

It’s that time of year again! Halifax Burger Week starts this week, and once again The Coast has upped the stakes by getting well over 100 restaurants to participate this time around!

It seems everywhere wants a piece of the action, which means the choices are seemingly endless. This is both good and bad. Good because you have a long list of burgers to choose from. Bad because you have to try and make up your mind about which ones to fit into the week (unfortunately, trying them all this time around is pretty much impossible). But don’t worry! I’m back again to give you a sneak peek into some of the burgers that should be making your Burger Week 2018 hit list!

For Part 1 of the Preview Series, take a look at the burgers being offered from The Auction House, Stubborn Goat, and Durty Nelly’s!

Veggie Burger Series – Part 3

Summer is quickly flying by, and I’ve been spending a lot of it sitting on patios throughout Halifax, drinking some great local beer and eating delicious veggie burgers (it’s a hard life, but somebody has to do it).

I’ve already covered six pretty great meatless burgers, which you can check out in Part 1 and Part 2, and it’s time to show off three more! You’re going to want to keep reading because these three don’t mess around, and they seriously raise the bar in the veggie burger category!

Also, the final round for The Coast Best of Halifax awards is now open and Life of Burgers has snagged a nomination for Best Food Blogger! If you wouldn’t mind heading over to The Coast and throwing a vote my way, it would be hugely appreciated! Thanks!

Halifax Sausage Fest 2016

Things have been a little quiet with Life of Burgers lately, due to being really busy over the last couple of months, but I figured it was time to get out and eat some more delicious food!

I’m a big fan of food festivals, and one of my favourites in the city is Halifax Sausage Fest! The week wrapped up recently, but I did manage to get out and try a handful of restaurants and their contributions to the event, and I was really impressed with the ones I got to chow down on!

Halifax Burger Week 2016 – Burgers 1-6

Burger Week is now in full swing, and everyone is talking about what burgers they love, and which ones fell short. I have been powering through multiple burgers a day, and I figured I would give my thoughts on the burgers I’ve tackled.

My time has mostly been devoted to eating burgers, and laying down after eating burgers, so my thoughts here are mostly going to be right to the point. Let me know if you agree, or disagree, with anything I have to say on the first six burgers (I love a good burger debate)!

Burger #38 – Beef & Blue Burger (Stubborn Goat)

When I first visited Stubborn Goat, I didn’t have the experience I had quite hoped for. I had heard so much hype about this new addition to the Halifax restaurant scene so when the burger I ordered wasn’t the greatest, I was sure that this was just a fluke and I knew I had to come back again and give them another shot. During Burger Week I visited them again to try their Hellfire Burger, and I was really happy with my experience on this return visit (even if the spiciness of the burger brought tears to my eyes). I decided it was time to go back and try another one of their burgers, this time the Beef & Blue Burger.

Halifax Burger Week – Day #2

After a successful Day #1 (despite the weather trying to sabotage that), it was time to move on to Day #2! Joining the Life of Burgers team on the second day was Olivia, Jordan, Drew, Savannah, Ryan, Ian, and Sacha.

Burger #9 – Deli Burger from Rogue’s Roost

Rogue's Roost

The Deli Burger from Rogue’s Roost provided us with another solid start to our day. The coleslaw stole the show, and I really enjoyed how it accompanied the patty of the burger. The creamy crunch that it gave was awesome! The smoked meat was something I have never had on a burger, but it gave a new dimension of meat that was very much welcome. I really liked the texture of the bun, but there was mixed feelings from the others at the table. Overall, this burger should probably be on your Burger Week list.

Drew: “I thought the smoked meat to burger patty ratio would be off, but the portioning was actually perfect”
