Burger #36 – The Donicken (Foggy Goggle)

One thing that I try to be weary of when trying new burgers, are ones that are trying to be too ambitious. This could mean way too many toppings, an unusual combination of ingredients, or just the sheer size of the burger itself. That being said, I want to give a fair shot to each burger, kind of a “don’t knock it til you try it” way of thinking. The Donicken from Foggy Goggle initially had me worried that it may fall into this category, but being a lover of meat, I figured that I had to at least give it a try (and I’m glad I did).

Appearance (7.5/10)

As it was placed in front of me, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of cheese on the burger. I’m a big fan of cheese so this was pretty exciting. I also really liked the two big chunks of Donair meat that were placed on top of the chicken patty. Even the veggies looked nice and fresh (the tomatoes were a really bright red). My mouth was instantly watering.

Taste (8/10)

I was really curious as to how the Donair meat and chicken would work together, so I was pretty quick to take my first bite. Thankfully, they accompanied each other really well! The chicken patty was seasoned really nicely and had a great taste to it. The housemade Donair meat was delicious, and it could very well be a contender for the best Donair meat I’ve eaten in the city. I enjoyed the hot pepper mayo mostly because it worked well with both meats while giving the burger a bit of a kick. Overall, this Donair/chicken hybrid was a pretty tasty time!

Cost vs. What You Get (7/10)

This creation comes with a price tag of $15. Given the fact that this burger contains two different meats that worked, and tasted, really nice together, as well as the veggies being pretty fresh, this price is fairly reasonable. That being said, I feel like it could maybe have been a dollar or two cheaper.

Overall (7.5/10)

The Foggy Goggle has quickly become one of my favourite places in the city to get a burger. They are not afraid to get creative with their food, while still maintaining a good level of deliciousness. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this burger, but I was definitely happy with the outcome. I would totally recommend this burger to both Donair and chicken lovers alike!
